ABSTRACT: This exploratory research analyzes the impact of the CEO's participation as a member of an organization's information systems (IS) steering committee. Results, based on an analysis of responses to a survey instrument sent to information systems managers suggest that the CEO's participation can improve certain aspects of IS such as its alignment with organizational plans, its perceived importance, and effectiveness. Resource allocation to IS was not affected by the CEO's membership of the committee.
